PhD Students
For this cycle (applications due Fall 2026), PI Sebo is looking to recruit 2-3 PhD students to join the SEBO lab at the University of Kansas (KU). Interested students should follow these steps to apply, due by December 15:
- Submit the KU CS PhD program application: I've included links for information about the KU CS PhD program and the application page. Be sure to include your interest in working with PI Sarah Sebo (by name) in your statement of purpose.
- Fill out this Google form : This will allow PI Sebo to learn more about you and your application and potentially reach out to you individually via Zoom or email for more information or an interview.
Undergraduate and Masters Students
We encourage and welcome the involvement of KU and UChicago undergraduate and Masters students in the SEBO Lab. Undergraduate and Masters students typically work collaboratively with other PhD students, undergraduates, and high school students on ongoing research projects that explore novel human-robot interactions. Work on human-robot interaction projects can include: reading academic papers to understand prior work and inform project work, experiment design, robot and system programming (typically done using Python), running a human subjects study, analyzing data, and paper writing. Students usually begin by joining an ongoing project and, if they choose, can later lead their own projects once they've gained more experience.
